My first catch and kill and eat
This weekend me and some others went to Norfolk, and aside from getting pissed and that, we did a bit of walking around the countryside. So we were just sitting round this stream and we noticed quite a few of these Crayfish knocking about in the water. So a man who was fishing netted a couple so we could have a look at them, but then he put them back in. As we left, I started to wonder what they'd be like to eat. Now, seeing as you probably need a license to take anything out of the water, we thought we'd come back when there wasn't anyone around.

So the next day, we went back with some specialist fishing equipment consisting of a colander, a plastic bag, and a few bits of raw chicken for bait. Despite our obvious expertise, I was quite doubtful about us catching anything.
When we got there we happened to find a bit of discarded fishing line, which we tied round the chicken and lowered into the water. Now, this chicken had only been bought a couple of days before, so it hadn't gone off or anything, but it must have emitted something strong into the stream because it attracted the Crayfish instantly. As soon as they got hold of it, all we had to do was pull each one out of the water. But they were a bit fiddly, and after a lot of shouting and jumping around like spazzes, we managed to get them into the upturned colander (which had now become a makeshift prison).
We caught 5 in total, and after boiling them and then shelling them, we din't end up with much meat. Especially not for the effort involved. But it was an experience anyway I suppose. So thanks, Norfolk.
